Dr. Akhil Kumar Singh is an Assistant Professor of Public Policy at MS Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, Bengaluru, working at the intersection of philosophy, psychology, and education.
His work focuses on embodied education, examining how learning is not only cognitive but rooted in bodily experience, emotion, and context. Through both research and field practice, he explores how educational systems shape not just what people know, but how they think, relate, and act in the world.
Dr. Singh earned his Ph.D. in Liberal Arts from IIT Jodhpur, where his research engaged curriculum design for holistic and embodied learning. Since then, he has led teacher training initiatives across diverse educational settings in India, translating philosophical insights into practical classroom approaches.
He is the author of Education for the Embodied Human (Brill, 2025). His broader work engages questions of educational policy, indigenous knowledge systems, and the relationship between learning, agency, and human development. Through his teaching, research, and initiatives such as Shiksha Swaraj, he continues to examine how education might move beyond memorization toward cultivating judgment, responsibility, and meaningful participation.
